Not long after taking a plot point from Jon and Kate Gosselin, NBC's Law & Order has plans to translate David Letterman's alleged extortion sex scandal into its own episode.
NBC execs told Access Hollywood they actually already had a similar story in the works at the time Letterman, 62, stunned the audience of his CBS late night show by revealing his dalliances with female employees -- after he'd been threatened with a $2 million extortion plot by CBS producer Robert "Joe" Halderman.
"We were already working on a blackmail story that's somewhat more violent," Executive Producer Rene Balcer told Access in early October. "And who knows? This one may add a spin to the story we're working on."
According to a just-released casting notice, the in-the-works episode will center around a well-known female celebrity talk show host who has engaged in "a series of short-lived affairs with some of the employees on the show and up until now has managed to keep them off the radar." Later, a blackmailer asks the host for $3 million.

The episode does not yet have an air date.
Halderman entered a not guilty plea to the extortion charges in a New York City court last month.
