Clive Owen

Clive Owen is an English actor known for films including Closer, Children of Men, Croupier and Inside Man. Owen is the son of country music singer Jess Owen. His father left the family when he was 3 and he was later raised by his mother and stepfather. He developed an interest in acting after joining a youth theater group at age 13. After initially resisting drama school, he enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1987.

Owen began his professional career onstage with the Young Vic Theatre Company before making his film debut in Vroom in 1988. He gained recognition in Britain as Stephen Crane on the television series Chancer before attracting international attention with Croupier in 1998. His performance in Closer (2004) earned him an Academy Award nomination as well as Golden Globe and BAFTA wins for Best Supporting Actor.

His other notable credits include Gosford Park (2001), The Bourne Identity (2002), Sin City (2005), Children of Men (2006), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), The International (2009), Duplicity (2009), Hemingway & Gellhorn (2012), American Crime Story and Monsieur Spade.

Owen met actress Sarah-Jane Fenton while they were performing Romeo and Juliet at the Young Vic. They married in March 1995 and share two daughters, Hannah and Eve.
