Cynthia Bailey is spilling the tea on how she plans to look her best for the next Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion show: the keto diet.
The reality star sat down with Us Weekly at the Rolling Stone LIVE: Atlanta’s Big Game Bash presented by Mercedes-Benz USA event ahead of Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, February 3, to share some of her fitness and nutrition secrets. And it turns out keto, one of the biggest celebrity-loved diet plans of the moment, is top of her mind.
“I keep hearing about the keto diet, and the reunion is coming up in three weeks,” she reveals, “so I think I’m going to try it just to get a little more snatched.”
The ketogenic diet, commonly referred to as keto, is a low-carb, high-fat eating plan that puts an emphasis on consuming healthy fats found in foods such as avocado, olive oil and salmon. Briana Culberson, the daughter of Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson, recently revealed she’d lost 45 pounds on keto.
Bailey, 51, jokes with Us that it’s her former job as a model that is spurring her slimdown: “My historical modeling career has been called into question a little bit, so I gotta make sure these cheekbones are more sucked in!”
In an October 2018 Instagram post, the TV personality shared that she was also ramping up her gym efforts. “It’s been a minute but I’m recommitting myself,” she captioned a video of her doing squats and overhead arm presses. “I felt great after! Day 1 ain’t no joke tho.”
The Bravo star — who began dating Fox sportscaster Mike Hill after meeting him on an episode of The Steve Harvey Show in April 2018 — has a liquid weight loss trick up her sleeve too. “Honestly, what I’ve learned is that the most fattening thing is drinking, and I’m a cocktail girl!” she shares with Us. “I think it’s more fattening than food!”
Prior to the Season 11 reunion, Bailey sees a dry spell in her future — even if it’s a short one. “When I’m not drinking that much, I’m not bloated, and it’s just a lot of water and bloat,” she says. “So I would say it’s not even food, because I eat pretty healthy, but I drink pretty bad.”
Adds the noted peach bellini fan, “If I detox for a week from drinking, I actually just naturally slim down.”
