'Full House' Cast Members React to Bob Saget's Death: Read the Touching Tributes

Touching tributes. Bob Saget’s former Full House costars shared their emotional reactions to the late actor’s death on Sunday, January 9. The Fuller House alum died at age 65 in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida, the Orange County Sherriff’s Office confirmed. “Earlier today, deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes for a call about an unresponsive man in a hotel room,” the organization tweeted. “The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case. #BobSaget.” The Pennsylvania native was in the middle of a comedy tour, which began in September 2021 and was scheduled through May. “Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville,” the Dirty Daddy author tweeted on Sunday morning alongside an onstage selfie. “Appreciative audience. Thanks again to @RealTimWilkins for opening. I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this s--t. Check http://BobSaget.com for my dates in 2022." In addition to his career as a stand-up comedian, the Grammy nominee was best known for playing Danny Tanner on Full House from 1987 to 1995. He went on to reprise the role from 2016 to 2020 for Netflix’s revival series. [sendtonews type="float" key="YSFcpnEhXs-2835672-14453"] Saget gushed exclusively to Us Weekly in December 2019 about the “really nice goodbye” that cast members gave fans of the show, noting that he was “crying all over the place” when saying bye to Tanner for good. “I was very, very verklempt,” the former America's Funniest Home Videos host said at the time. “It brought back a lot of memories for me. At the end of Full House, I just kind of stayed by myself. We had no warning that we were going to be canceled. We were asked to go to the WB or CW and John [Stamos] and I said, ‘No, let’s not do that.’” The Temple University grad added that he and Stamos, 58, among other cast members “have stayed friends all these years,” saying, “It’s not just a press thing that we say. To see [Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber] so accomplished and see three empowered women do a comedy kids show with morality lessons — it had those elements in the original series. I was more emotional about seeing them and being with them. It’s not the same show it used to be, but it can’t be.” The onscreen family man had kids of his own, welcoming daughters Aubrey, Laura and Jennifer while married to then-wife Sherri Kramer from 1982 to 1997. Following his split from the screenwriter, 65, the Raising Dad alum went on to wed Kelly Rizzo in 2018 in California. Dave Coulier

"I’ll never let go, brother. Love you," Coulier wrote via Instagram.

The Michigan native went on to share never-before-seen photos of himself and Saget, writing in a separate post, “I met Bob when I was 18 years old. I didn’t know then that two, struggling standup comics would end up being brothers forever. I wish I could lean on you right now through all these tears. I love you.”

Andrea Barber

"This one hurts. He had the biggest heart of anyone in Hollywood. He gave the biggest hugs. I am gutted that I will never be able to hug him again. Bob ended every text, every interaction with 'Love you,'" Barber wrote via Instagram. "Didn’t matter how long or short we’d been apart. He loved so deeply and so fiercely. And he never hesitated to tell you just how much you meant to him. This is the greatest lesson I learned from Bob Saget - don’t hesitate to tell people you love them. I feel at peace knowing that Bob knew exactly how much I adore him."

She continued, "Rest well, my dear friend. I have no doubt you are making everyone in Heaven laugh until their cheeks hurt, just as you did here on Earth."

Later that same day, Barber shared a video of Saget delivering a speech during a Fuller House table read. “Bob could never resist an opportunity to make a speech,” she wrote via Instagram. “He was so gifted at knowing exactly how to articulate the moment and feelings. … I wish he were here to say the perfect speech to heal our hearts with love and laughter.”

John Stamos

"I am broken," the Grandfathered alum tweeted. "I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby."

Stamos went on to write via Instagram that he was “not ready to accept” Saget’s death, adding, “I’m going to imagine him out there, still on the road, doing what he loves with all his heart and humor. … He goes to sleep dreaming of when we'll all meet again — and he's smiling. I know in my heart he's smiling, still hearing the laughter from a few hours before. I’m just not ready to say goodbye yet. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe.”

Lori Loughlin

"Words cannot begin to express how devastated I am. Bob was more than my friend; he was my family," the When Calls the Heart alum said in a statement to Us. "I will miss his kind heart and quick wit. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and laughter. I love you, Bobby."

The actress wrote a lengthy Instagram tribute, quoting her Full House character. "There aren’t enough words to express what I’m feeling today. Nor are they big enough to capture even a slice of who he was. One thing I do know, is that we never missed a chance to tell each other, 'I love you,'" she wrote in part, later adding, "But you were supposed to be here longer… How Rude."

Candace Cameron Bure

"I don’t know what to say," the Hallmark star tweeted. "I have no words. Bob was one of the best humans [sic] beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much."

The Christmas Contest actress shared a second heartfelt tribute to her late friend via Instagram two days later, asking Saget why he had to leave them “so soon” after knowing him for 35 years. “We are all family, but you were the glue. The sticky, messy, squishy, sweet, lovable glue,” Cameron Bure wrote. “My childhood is wrapped up in you, my formative teenaged years and the rest of adulthood. You taught me to feel deeply at such a young age. You were never afraid or ashamed to share your emotions, to cry, to love, to laugh and say it out loud.”

She recalled being “deeply connected” to the comedian after meeting when she was only 10 years old. “You weren’t just like a father, but one of my closest friends in life. This hurts like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I love you, I love you, I love you,” the California native continued. “You knew that. I knew that. But I have to say it again. I want one more hug. I want one more text that says, ‘Oh, btw, it’s me Bob’ after a long rant. I want one more laugh. I want to roll my eyes at you one more time.”

Cameron Bure concluded: “You were the best. You were … Bob. There will never be another like you. I wish you could see the outpouring of love you have. You’ve certainly left a beautiful legacy in kindness, compassion, loyalty, generosity, and love❤️. I’m not saying goodbye because you’ll never leave my heart. Even with this gigantic tear in it 💔.”

“Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man," the designers said in a statement on Monday, January 10. "We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has.
