Double her age and twice the fun! Katharine McPhee is not afraid to poke fun at the 34-year age difference between her and her husband, David Foster. Us Weekly confirmed in July 2018 that Foster, 69, popped the question more than a year after the two musicians first sparked romance rumors. McPhee, 35, later revealed the Grammy winner proposed “at the top of this mountain in Anacapri” during an Italian getaway. The twosome tied the knot in London on June 28, 2019, in front of 100 guests, including the producer's daughters Sara and Erin Foster. According to a source, McPhee rocked a custom gown by Zac Posen. Prior to their romance, Foster was a guest mentor on season 5 of American Idol which McPhee alum competed on and finished in second place. Two years later, the producer played piano at the Scorpion actress’ wedding to her now ex-husband, Nick Cokas. After a social media user wrote that the “only downside” of Foster’s 1992 Christmas album is that McPhee isn’t on it, she quipped back. “The recording schedule for this conflicted with my 3rd grade homework, unfortunately,” she tweeted in November 2019.

Geriatric Love

The American Idol season 5 runner-up had the perfect response to a person who made fun of her fiancé's age on social media. "Is anyone else totally disturbed by @katharinemcphee and her geriatric love? #daddyissues," a Twitter user wrote in January 2019, to which McPhee replied, "Oh i LOVE that demi lovato song," paying homage to Demi Lovato's 2017 tune "Daddy Issues."

Bikini Bliss

The American Idol alum went on a holiday vacation to Hawaii in December 2018 with her mom, her sister and her fiancé, as well as his daughters. McPhee posted a picture of herself looking radiant in a yellow bikini, which Erin Foster jokingly disapproved. "Grandma!!!! Wtf I don't want to be next to you at the pool," the Barely Famous star wrote on Instagram, to which the Smash alum replied, "Grandma carries it in the back. Don't worry- you'll see my cellulite when I stand up."

David’s daughters Sara and Erin Foster, who are both older than McPhee, reacted to their dad’s fifth engagement by commenting on his Instagram. “Mommmyyy,” Erin, 35, wrote. “Out of the country. What did I miss?” Sara, 37, added. McPhee “liked” both of their comments at the time.

Slamming the Trolls

After the American Idol alum faced backlash on Twitter for her and Foster’s age difference, McPhee tweeted, “y’all should be worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who’s marrying me. thank you for coming to my TED talk.” She also responded “alexa, play IDGAF by dua lipa” to a follower who called their relationship “disgusting.”

McPhee trolled Erin after she wasn’t invited to the couple’s August 2018 trip to Stuart Island, British Columbia, commenting on Instagram, “@erinfoster mommy and daddy need alone time,” along with the crying laughing emoji.

When a user asked Erin “how awkward” it is that her dad’s fiancée is younger than her in August 2018 on Instagram, the Barely Famous alum replied, “I’ve started saying I’m 31, so now she’s 3 years older than me. Im a problem solver.” McPhee quickly quipped back with a Parent Trap reference: “stop blowing my age cover! the day we say i do, i’m shipping you and your sister off to Switzerland.”
