The Tommy Hilfiger model couldn’t help but gush about Gomez via Twitter in 2012.

"She is beyond flawless and he's ya know he's Bieber. They are the perfect relationship... forever alone," Hailey wrote at the time.

Shooting Down the Rumors

In October 2019, shortly after Gomez released her track “Lose You to Love Me” — speculated to be about her former romance with Justin — Hailey shared an Instagram Story listening to the song “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker and Jhené Aiko. Fans immediately connected the Insta Story to the “It Ain’t Me” singer’s latest release, which Hailey vehemently denied.

“Please stop with this nonsense… there is no ‘response,’” she commented on an Instagram post about the topic.

Gomez Calls Out Her Fans

The artist wasn’t here for her followers going after Hailey in the wake of the Instagram drama. “I am grateful for the response that the song is getting. I'm so grateful," Gomez said on Instagram Live at the time, per Cosmopolitan. “However, I do not stand for women tearing women down and I will never, ever be by that."

A ‘Like’ Speaks a Thousand Words

In 2019, the New York native “liked” one of Gomez’s posts about the launch of her Rare beauty collection. In November of that year, a source exclusively told Us that “Hailey thinks Selena is talented. By liking photos of Selena, whether it be a glam shot or ones that her friends post on Instagram, Hailey wants to show that there are no hard feelings.”

The insider added at the time: “It’s her way of trying to make peace and show her support for Selena in a low-key, yet public way.”

‘This Is Disgusting’

Gomez once again slammed trolls in 2010. After Madison Beer — a mutual friend of the two — dined with Hailey, some fans of the “Rare” artist came down hard on the “Reckless” singer due to their feelings that she betrayed Gomez. Not only did Beer defend herself, but the Disney Channel alum came to her defense as well.

“This is disgusting reading all of this. This wasn’t intentional whatsoever,” Gomez wrote via Instagram. “I’m so disappointed that people would speak to someone like this. I have known Madison since she was a baby and watched her continue to become the woman she is. There is no issue.”

Hailey Seemingly Hits Back at Comparisons to Gomez

In April 2022, after a series of her TikTok videos were bombarded with comments comparing her to her husband’s ex, Hailey took to the platform to address the haters.

“Leave me alone at this point,” Hailey told trolls via TikTok. “I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything, I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please. Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you. Truly. That’s my only request. Be miserable somewhere else, please.”

Fans Accuse Gomez of Throwing Shade at Hailey

On May 10, Gomez shared a TikTok video of her skincare routine that some fans assumed was her way of making fun of a video that Hailey posted earlier that day.

"Wait ... is she tryna make fun of you know who," one commenter wrote. The "Bad Liar" singer took to the comments section to assure her followers that she had not been throwing shade.

"This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health," she wrote. "Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon." The Wizards of Waverly Place alum later disabled comments on the video.

The Timeline

Hailey addressed the “timeline” of her and Justin getting together after he rekindled his relationship with Gomez months before he proposed.

"The only people who really know the truth of the situation and what the timeline really was and how it happened and how it went down are, like, me and him," she said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, noting the idea that she “stole” Justin from Gomez wasn’t accurate. “I was there and I was living it every day."

Hailey also revealed that she’s spoken to the “Look At Her Now” songstress in the years following the couple’s 2018 nuptials.

“It’s all respect. It’s all love,” Hailey said. “That’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened and we’re good and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect then that’s fine. … Which had brought me a lot of peace and I’m like, ‘We know what happened. It is what it is.’ You’re never going to be able to correct every narrative.”

Selena Brushes Off TikTok Rumors

In February 2023, Gomez reacted to a TikTok video theorizing that one of Hailey's earlier posts was about her. “It's OK!" the Only Murders in the Building star wrote in a comment. "I don't let these things get me down! Be nice to everyone! x."

Hailey, for her part, previously denied that her since-deleted clip was about anyone in particular. "I never comment on this type of thing but we were just having a girls night and did a random TikTok sound for fun," the Rhode Skin founder wrote in January 2023, commenting on a different clip about her original post. "It's not directed at anyone."

When a clip from Drop the Mic resurfaced via TikTok — which showed Hailey appearing to gag at the mention of Taylor Swift's name — Gomez quickly defended her BFF. "So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game," she commented on one fan's video, which referred to Hailey as a "mean girl" and a "bully."

Reaching Out After ‘Death Threats’

Following the alleged social media beef, Gomez revealed in March 2023 that she had personally spoken with Hailey.

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” the Princess Protection Program actress wrote via Instagram Story statement. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop .”
