Although London-born Mischa Barton had bit parts in hit films like Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense, it wasn't until Fox's hit teen drama The O.C. came along that she became a household name.

After the show ended in 2006, Barton – whose character Marissa Cooper was killed off shortly before the series finale - has continued to work as a model, even becoming the spokesperson for SAFE (Skin Awareness For Everyone) Campaign in 2007, and works to promote the Keds footwear line.

Barton has previously dated Brandon Davis and Cisco Adler.

Post O.C., the actress starred in film duds like Virgin Territory and Walled In before landing a role in the upcoming CW series A Beautiful Life.

In July 2009, Barton was removed from her West Hollywood home by police and placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold before being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
