Elton John Wants Gay Joke Out of Vince Vaughn Movie

Elton John agrees with Anderson Cooper: The gay joke in Vince Vaughn's upcoming comedy, The Dilemma, has to go.
"Enough already!" he told UsMagazine.com Monday at his AIDS Foundation's 'An Enduring Vision' benefit in NYC.

John, 63, praised Cooper, 45, for first pointing out how the joke in the film -- "Ladies and gentlemen, electric cars ... are gay," Vaughn, 40, quips -- could be hurtful.
Cooper "is one of the most important people on television," John told Us. "His heart is in exactly the right place — same as mine. He thinks the way I do. He’s intelligent, and he’s on the side of what we’re on. I hate bigotry. I hate racial hatred. I hate sexual hatred. I mean, Anderson is on our side."

9Wow, are you serious? Elton John always seems to make a fuss out of everything that has "gay" in it. Maybe it's not the sexuality 'gay' meaning? There's actually more than one meaning to some words, you know, and not everyone is always referring to the sexuality kind. I totally get where he's coming from with some people against gays but seriously, get over it.

I think this is ridiculous. It's a comedy. Since when are comedies p.c? And they are always offensive to me as a female. They are always calling women bad names and degrading them but I guess if they stop making fun of gay people, maybe women will eventually stop being so degraded. I DOUBT it but who knows.. I think freedom of speech means freedom of speech though and if you don't like it, don't watch. I don't like stupid comedies that I know are going to be offensive in anyway so I don't watch them.. I won't be watching this because it just looks boring and I don't like Vince Vaughn.

Ummm... pretty sure Jeff Dunham has already used that joke... and I LMAO... Everybody has their own sense of humor, let it go... Besides "Electric cars are Heterosexual" is not funny at all.
I think you're all way too sensitive. Take the thumb out of your mouth and grow up. The word "gay was used in a different context here. It's like saying "That sucks," or "That stinks." It's not saying "That sucks dick," morons.
You know if we take that joke out all race, ethnic, sex everything is going to have to go!!I love all no matter what, I can take a joke, some offend. what ever happened to freedom of speech??The term gay was originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy ... has a derisive meaning equivalent to rubbish or stupid ... so that being said, why remove something that has many many meanings!!
Obviously, what they are saying in the movie by using the word 'gay' is that something is 'lame' (which in itself implies that gay people are lame). So why not just use the word 'lame' in the first place? Simple solution.
i don't blame Elton, i mean with so much bullying happening right now, maybe it's for the best.
