Dancing With the Stars cast member Peta Murgatroyd was born on July 14, 1986. She started dance at the young age of 4, studying classical ballet. Due to an ankle injury at the age of 16, Murgatroyd gave up ballet and picked up Latin dancing.
In 2004, Murgatroyd performed in the touring company of Burn the Floor and became the lead female dancer of the show when it landed on Broadway in August 2009.
Murgatroyd joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars in 2011, winning two seasons: seasons 14 and 22. On season 14, her partner was football player Donald Driver,a former wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers. On season 22, she was paired with deaf model and actor, Nyle DiMarco.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy proposed to Murgatroyd onstage for a performance of Sway: A Dance Trilogy in Miami, Florida. Murgatroyd will not be on season 23 of Dancing With the Stars because she and Chmerkovskiy are expecting their first child in January 2017 and plan to marry in July 2017.
