Sasha Farber is a professional dancer most well known as one of the troupe dancers and pros on Dancing With the Stars.
Farber was born in Russia, in present day Belarus, in 1984 but moved to Australia with his family two years after his birth. He began dancing when he was 13 years old. At 17, Farber won the Australian Youth Latin Championships twice and went on to represent Australia at the World Latin Championships in 2001.
Farber was also featured in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremony and the second season of the Australian iteration of Dancing with the Stars. He went on to join the 2009 Broadway production of Burn the Floor where he initially met Emma Slater, who would also go on to join the dance competition series.
The dancer joined the U.S. version of DWTS in 2012 as a troupe member. The following year, he was promoted to pro and was partnered with Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. The following season, Farber returned to the troupe. In 2022, he was announced as a pro again and was matched up with Kim Fields. Throughout his time on the show, Farber teamed up with Terra Jolé, Simone Biles, Tonya Harding, Mary Lou Retton, Ally Brooke, Selma Blair and more.
In 2011, Farber began dating Slater. The pair broke up in 2014 but rekindled their romance the following year. During an October 2016 episode of the competition series, Farber proposed to the choreographer. The couple tied the knot in March 2018. After being married for nearly four years, the twosome split for good. In February 2023, Slater officially filed for divorce from Farber.
