Zac Hanson
Zac Hanson is the drummer, singer and multi-instrumentalist of the pop-rock band Hanson. Zac was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in a musical family. He and his brothers Isaac Hanson and Taylor Hanson were homeschooled and began performing together as children. Zac was 6 when Hanson formed in 1992 and he learned drums, percussion, piano and guitar.
Hanson built a following performing locally before breaking through with Middle of Nowhere in 1997. The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured “MMMBop,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100. At 12, Zac became one of the youngest Grammy nominees in history after the group received the nomination for Record of the Year in 1998. The band also earned nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals that year.
Hanson saw continued success with albums including This Time Around (2000), Underneath (2004), The Walk (2007), Shout It Out (2010) and Anthem (2013). Zac has also worked as a producer and appeared with his brothers in projects including Road to Albertane (1998) and Strong Enough to Break (2006).
Zac married Kate Tucker in 2006. The couple have five children: Shepherd (born in 2008), Junia (born in 2010), Abraham (born in 2013), Lucille (born in 2016) and Quincy (born in 2021).
