Finding The One! Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McClard's romance quickly became a topic of conversation when they got married weeks after first being spotted together. The model, who first sparked romance rumors with the producer in February 2018, was previously in a relationship with musician Jeff Magid. The former couple dated for three years before news broke that Ratajkowski was no longer living with Magid, weeks before being spotted with Bear-McClard. Later that month, Ratajkowski shocked her fans when she announced that she exchanged vows with the Uncut Gems producer. A source exclusively told Us Weekly that Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard shared a bond ahead of their romantic relationship. “Emily has known Sebastian for years,” the insider said in March 2018. “They were all in a friend group. He wasn't a stranger.” The actress, for her part, later defended her whirlwind romance when she pointed out that the nuptials weren't rushed for the pair. "We knew each other for a long time before and he likes to joke ‘Yeah everyone thinks we got married quickly, but you vetted me for two years,'" she said on Busy Tonight in November 2018. After celebrating two years of marriage, Ratajkowski confirmed that the duo were expecting their first child. At the time, the We Are Your Friends star reflected on the “innately lonely” experience amid her pregnancy. “It’s something a woman does by herself, inside her body, no matter what her circumstances may be," she wrote for Vogue in October 2020. "Despite having a loving partner and many female friends ready to share the gritty details of their pregnancies, I am ultimately alone with my body in this experience. There is no one to feel it with me — the sharp muscular aches in my lower abdomen that come out of nowhere while I’m watching a movie or the painful heaviness of my breasts that now greets me first thing every morning. My husband has no physical symptoms in ‘our’ pregnancy, another reminder of how different a woman and man’s experience of life can be." Ratajkowski explained that their plan was to have a candid approach to gender as parents. "When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after 'Congratulations' is almost always 'Do you know what you want?'" she continued. "We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then." In March 2021, Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard welcomed son Sylvester Apollo Bear. The twosome were spotted packing on the PDA on Valentine's Day. Later that month, the Gone Girl actress confirmed that they exchanged vows. “Soooo I have a surprise. I got married today,” she wrote via Instagram.

"[Sebastian] proposed to me at Minetta Tavern [in New York City], and he didn’t have a ring so I was like, 'Mmm, nah,'" Ratajkowski recalled during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "And then he took the paper clip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring, which I actually thought was really romantic."

Following their anniversary, the iCarly alum announced that they were expanding their family with a new furry friend. "Everyone out here having babies (Kim, Megan, Amy) but we got a new special guy ourselves. It’s a boy! Meet Colombo," she wrote alongside an Instagram selfie with Bear-McClard.

“Grateful and growing,” Ratajkowski captioned an Instagram post announcing her pregnancy.

At the time, the I Feel Pretty actress also shared video footage documenting her baby bump progress, saying, "I dreamed of you for the first time the other night. We were wondering who you will be. One day soon, so very soon, your presence will be real."

During an interview on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Ratajkowski reflected on what her past dating history has taught her. “It’s a strange thing but famous men who’ve pursued me, I’m always like, ‘Oh god,’" she shared. "Actors [are] a very specific type of dude [and] something about it just doesn’t work for me. I don’t want to feel like a prize in any way. I just want to have a nice relationship where it feels equal.”

In her debut book, My Body, Ratajkowski candidly discussed her personal connection with Bear-McClard. "I'm one with my body only during sex. When my husband and I f--k, I like to look in the mirror so I can see that I’m real. It helps me to return to myself, instead of floating above us, which happens from time to time," she wrote. "When I come, I finally allow myself to exist inside my body, even if only for a few seconds."

The author also dedicated the memoir to her loved ones, adding, "To my husband, for showing me how transforming love can be. To Sly, to whom this book is dedicated. While you grew inside of me, I wrote, hoping to become the best version of myself for you."

Us confirmed that Ratajkowski was no longer living with her estranged spouse. “She got an apartment downtown to get away from her ex and start her new life. They’re only speaking to each other through the nanny,” a source said. “She isn’t speaking to him because of his infidelity, he isn’t speaking to her because he feels she was checked out of their relationship for the last year.”

The Lying and Stealing star opened up about her decision to end things with Bear-McClard while appearing on the “Going Mental With Eileen Kelly” podcast.

"I didn't have the courage to leave for a long time. I was really, really unhappy," she said of her relationship. "I was, like, 100 pounds and I had just had a baby. I got really skinny 'cause I was not OK."

Before the pair ultimately called it quits, Ratajkowski revealed she "tried everything else" to fix her mental health.

"I tried to take antidepressants. I was sure that something was wrong with me,” she recalled. “I think so much of what I learned coming out of that relationship is to trust your instincts. Gaslighting is a real thing."
