Filled with Glee! Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk have the ultimate Hollywood romance, beginning with their TV meet-cute that led to a modern marriage and blended family. After being introduced in 2014 on the Glee set —Paltrow played Holly Holliday and Falchuk was a cocreator of the series — the couple’s professional relationship quickly turned romantic. The budding romance came a few months after the Shakespeare in Love star split from husband Chris Martin after 10 years of marriage. Falchuk, for his part, ended a nearly 20-year marriage from producer Suzanne Bulnik a year prior. Throughout their relationship, the pair has gushed about one another — especially on their birthdays. “This is the most beautiful woman of all time and today is her birthday. We are all so lucky that she came into the world (but no one is luckier than me),” the 9-1-1 cocreator wrote via Instagram in September 2017 in honor of Paltrow turning 45. “Happy Birthday, Love.” Us Weekly confirmed in November 2017, that the Goop founder and American Horror Story writer and cocreator were engaged after more than three years of dating. Less than a year later, the lovebirds tied the knot in September 2018, bringing together their two families. Paltrow shares daughter Apple and son Moses with Martin, while Falchuk shares son Brody and daughter Isabella with his ex-wife. “For a while, I thought, I don’t know if I’d ever do it again. I have my kids — what’s the point?” Paltrow told Marie Claire UK in October 2018. “And then I met this incredible man, who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to. I’m very much the marrying kind.” Despite their unconventional living arrangement to start — the couple didn’t live together until August 2019 — Paltrow is confident in the pair’s decision to move in slowly after their wedding. “Married life has been really good. We took a year to let everybody [in the family] take it in and let the dust settle. And now we’re moving in together this month,” the Iron Man actress told InStyle at the time. “I adore my husband. August 2014

Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Paltrow and Falchuk were dating. They met on the set of Glee (which he co-created) in 2014. A source told Us that “things started off professionally” but eventually turned romantic.

The news came a few months after the actress and husband Chris Martin announced that they had called it quits on their 10-year marriage, famously calling the move a “conscious uncoupling.” Meanwhile, Falchuk was wed to fellow producer Suzanne Bulnik from 1994 to 2013.

September 2015

Paltrow accompanied Falchuk to the Los Angeles premiere of his show Scream Queens. He made their relationship Instagram official by sharing a photo from the event alongside the caption, “My date and I #screamqueens.”

November 2017

Multiple sources confirmed to Us exclusively that the pair became engaged after more than three years together. One source said, “They both knew it would happen, but it wasn’t a big thing to them because they were both in long marriages before. There wasn’t a rush.”

Days after the American Horror Story co-creator popped the question, he had brunch with his new fiancée and her ex Martin. She commemorated the outing on Instagram, writing, “Sunday brunch #modernfamily.”

Two months after Us broke the news, the Shakespeare in Love actress and Falchuk confirmed on the cover of Goop magazine that they are engaged. They said in a joint statement, “We feel incredibly lucky to have come together at this juncture in our lives when our collective successes and failures can serve as building blocks for a healthy and happy relationship.”

Paltrow said on Good Morning America that her children “are excited” to officially welcome Falchuk into the family. “It’s a very happy time, I have to say,” she gushed. “I’m super lucky in that I have these incredible relationships in my life. To feel that love and support from our community is really, really special. It just makes me cry every time.”

"Today is Gwyneth’s birthday so I’m just going to say it — she’s the greatest human being ever,” he wrote. “She’s not perfect — her sense of humor can be a little on the dirty side, she gets very angry at other drivers, isn’t that cheery before her first cup of coffee, considers dehydration to be a character flaw and improperly seasoned food hurts her feelings. The Goop founder revealed how moving in with her husband, after spending the first year of marriage in different homes, changed their dynamic. “So our sex life is over,” she jokingly told Harper’s Bazaar in January 2020. “I thought it was really interesting how resonant that was for people. One of my best friends was like, ‘That is my dream. Don’t ever move in.’ I think it certainly helps with preserving mystery and also preserving the idea that this person has their own life. The Politician actress and the American Horror Story coproducer opened up about their relationship amid the coronavirus pandemic during a Q&A published on Goop in April 2020. “We’re lucky that we have a really solid relationship, but we’re also in the house with the kids and it’s pretty close quarters,” Paltrow told intimacy guru Michaela Boehm. While some couples were struggling with “feeling sexual” and added stress amid the health crisis, Falchuk said his wife has been doing “great.”

“When you live with this woman, a few things become clear. There are the obvious things — that she’s beautiful, that she’s funny, that she likes things the way she likes them, when she likes them. That she is always busy — but also always has time for you,” the TV producer wrote via Instagram in honor of Paltrow’s 49th birthday. “But the two things that really stand out are that she notices. And she acts. A lot of people notice without acting. They notice. Then they complain or they gossip, or they shrug. And a lot of people act without noticing. Sometimes it’s helpful, but that is a dangerous way to act. Because you’re usually just acting for yourself.” 

Falchuk gushed over his wife, saying she “notices and acts” on a daily basis. “She may notice you need a hug and give you an outstanding one. She may notice that you’re hungry and make you a delicious egg sandwich. She may notice you love the Red Sox, and she will live and die with them even if she doesn’t understand what the hell is going on in the game,” he continued. “She may notice that you’re tired all the time and she will get you the right doctor to balance your hormones or create a little chewy square to help you sleep or wake up or teach you to meditate. She may notice that people still get weird about the word vagina, and she will do something so that, for a few days at least, everyone is saying that word.” 

The Pose writer praised the actress for realizing when “women are feeling funny about their bodies” and figuring out a way to talk about it with her Goop platform.  

“She may notice that there is injustice. That there are people who abuse others, and she will take a stand for the victims, even if it’s scary. Even if she was a victim, too. She will notice that birthdays matter and so she will always show up to your party with a great gift. She will notice that you worked hard on something, and she will amplify your work with whatever credibility she was earned,” he concluded. “She will also notice if you are driving like an asshole and act using her swear words and middle finger. I could go on and on. Really. Today is Gwyneth’s birthday. So today we notice her like she notices us every day. And we celebrate her because if anyone deserves to be celebrated it’s you, Gwyneth. Happy birthday. ❤️.”
