Jax Taylor Gives Update About His Relationship With His Estranged Mother: What We Know

Jax Taylor’s life offscreen is still filled with drama. The Vanderpump Rules star’s mother, Marie Cauchi, was noticeably missing from his wedding to Brittany Cartwright — and it doesn’t look like the mother-son duo are making up anytime soon. Jax’s issues with his mother began after his father, Ronald Cauchi, died after a battle with cancer. “My heart is broken, I lost my best friend and the best man I have ever met last night,” the Bravo star announced in December 2017. “I love you so much dad I can’t even breathe anymore, only person not letting me fall right now is my amazing girlfriend [Brittany]. I love you dad.” The reality TV personality later claimed that Marie didn’t give him and his sister, Jenny, all of the facts before Ronald passed way. "I used to be very close to my mom. Everybody's like, I love your mom. We really haven't communicated in the last six months, pretty much since my father passed,” Jax said on a December 2018 episode of Vanderpump Rules. “Their marriage was on the rocks; she was talking about leaving my dad about a year before he got cancer. Toward the end, my mom would say, 'Oh, he's fine.' We didn't know he was in ICU; I would have been there in a heartbeat if I knew he was in ICU. I mean, I get it, my mother's trying to protect my sister and I, but I should have been able to say goodbye to my dad." After the episode aired in March 2020, the SUR bartender opened up about their current status. “Everyone has family issues.... everyone!” he tweeted in March 2020. “Not one person in this world should ever tell another person how to act. Take care of each other and yourselves.” Jax also made it clear at the time that he didn’t want advice from viewers. “I mean I feel like it’s the unspoken topic, but people who give unsolicited advice are the ones that need it,” he tweeted. “The most and look the most pathetic. She Missed His Engagement Party

While their relationship wasn’t in a great place, Jax was upset when his mother missed his engagement party.

“I wish my mom would’ve responded,” Jax told Brittany on the show. “That kind of hurts my feelings a little bit, but that’s OK.”

The Last Time They Spoke

Jax gave more insight into his falling out with his mom during a December 2018 appearance on Bravo’s “Daily Dish” podcast.

“I haven’t really spoken to my mother since my dad’s funeral,” he said at the time. “So it’s been really tough. It’s nothing she did, really … well, I don’t know, I don’t want to get into it. I hope in time, God willing, that we can smooth things over. I just don’t know.”

Where Jax’s Sister Stands

Jax implied that his sister Jenny was also on the outs with his mom.

“It’s not me anymore, I don’t care about me, it’s my sister. And I worry about my sister,” Jax said in December 2018. “And she stresses all the time and she works so hard and she takes care of her husband and her husband’s amazing and her husband beat cancer twice. And my sister had to go through my dad’s cancer and she’s a nurse and she sees that sh– every day, it’s just kind of like… she’s just always stressed. I just worry about her. Brittany and I are always constantly trying to check up on her. Because she was a daddy’s girl. So she was very close to my father. Not that I wasn’t, but she had a daddy-daughter relationship. It’s very tough for her.”

Jax added that “didn’t go well” with his mom at Jenny’s May 2018 nuptials.

“[She pulled] my wife aside at my sister’s wedding and [said] things to her [like], ‘Run away,’” Jax revealed on the Vanderpump Rules aftershow in March 2020.

She Wasn’t Invited to His Wedding

In the end, Jax did not invite Marie to his wedding. Lisa Vanderpump revealed on the Vanderpump Rules aftershow in March 2020 that she wanted to reach out.

“I wanted to talk to her mother-to-mother, like, ‘Are you sure?’ I would have regretted not being there and he’s not my son,” Lisa said.

Jax’s Godmother Gave Him Away

Jax’s godmother waked him down the aisle at his nuptials. “I'm just getting so much through my head right now,” he said on the wedding episode, “My dad … and I couldn't believe my mom didn't even text my godmother. Nothing. That just hurts my feelings.”

Where They Stand Today

“I am sure my mother is doing well, my father was set up pretty well, and she has no mortgage and owns her own business. None of my family speaks to her, so I am not sure. It’s a really rough and complicated situation,” Jax tweeted in March 2020. “So I didn’t want to have any issues, I did what was best for myself and my wife, I didn’t want her perfect day ruined. People may have a opinion and that’s fine, I don’t care. It’s my life at the end of the day and I have no regrets.”

The Season 8 Reunion Update

Jax got visibly emotional during the season 8 reunion, which aired in June 2020, as costar Dayna Kathan opened up about being estranged from her father following the death of her mother seven years ago.

“I lost both my parents at the same time too. My mother … I just don’t speak to her anymore,” Jax said. “Unless you’ve gone through something like this, you can’t understand the pain.”

When Andy Cohen asked him if he’s considered reaching out to his mother to make up for lost time, the bartender confirmed he and his sister still haven’t been in touch and have no plans to reach out.
