Nicolas Cage plays a cop so corrupt he makes Denzel Washington in Training Day look like Mr. Rogers. After he gets addicted to painkillers, he begins blackmailing suspects and stealing. Although Cage is over the top, Eva Mendes offers a more subtle turn as his prostitute gal pal. Violent and uneven, this was a tough film for Us to watch.
