Kimora Lee Simmons

The former model and CEO of Phat Fashions might live a life of “fabulosity,” but the beauty had to work hard to get there.
Born in 1975 in St. Louis, Simmons was teased by her childhood peers for her part-Asian ancestry and for her unusually tall stature. Simmons got her start in the industry at the age of 13 when she was discovered while attending a modeling class.
By age 14, she was strutting down the runway for Chanel. In 1998, she married hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons. Together they created Phat Fashions with Kimora serving as lead designer for the Baby Phat label. The couple welcomed two daughters. Ming and Aoki, before separating in 2006.
Simmons and previous boyfriend Djimon Hounsou share a son, Kenzo, born in 2009. Simmons married banker Tim Leissner in 2014.
