The thing about sweaters is that while we love to wear them, they can all start to look the same quickly. We want to express ourselves with our style, not wear the same thing every day like a cartoon character! We need a neutral sweater that won’t just be a source of warmth, but also act as a fashion statement.
The Splendid Sedona Sweater is just about the chicest thing we’ve seen all winter. It’s a wool-blend, so we’ve got warmth checked off our list, but it also has unique details from top, to bottom, to side that make it stand out among the crowd of uniform-like knits gathering in the far corner of our closet. It’s also on sale! Oh yes, this sweater definitely has our attention now.

This soft sweater has a relaxed, long fit, falling just below the hips. The dropped shoulders have a natural nonchalance to them that flows into the sleeves, which have a wide cuff at the opening. The sleeves also have that purposeful slightly-too-long look, which adds additional comfort and looks cute to boot! If we adjust the neckline a bit, we can also go for an exposed shoulder look on one side for a hint of alluring appeal.
While we love the overall shape of this sweater, its ribbing is what stood out to us at first. The directionally patterned ribbing was specifically constructed and placed for a flattering and captivating look. There are three vertical lines running up from the center of the sweater on both the front and back, with diagonal lines shooting out from the center toward the shoulders and arms. This diagonal ribbing naturally falls to form horizontal lines on the drop shoulders. At the bottom seams of the shoulders, the ribbing turns vertical again for the remainder of the sleeve. The bottom hem of the sweater and the round neckline also have matching vertical ribbing.
The ribbing already creates a visually interesting (a.k.a. fabulously modern) texture, but we need to pick out and explain a smaller detail too, which truly makes the sweater. Along the outside of the vertical center ribbing are tiny, perforated holes, which add a fancy touch from neckline to hem, making this sweater not only fitting for casual wear, but suitable for a nicer occasion too. Relaxed fit sweaters are the new evening gown. Okay, not quite, but we can still demonstrate how to dress it up a bit!
For a nicer look, we would consider pairing this Sedona sweater with versatile work pants like these, or with a collared shirtdress, with the collar sticking out at the neckline. A good pair of tights will be crucial to that look! Shoe options are open wide. We can grab a pair of simple suede heels or take it down a notch with comfy Chelsea booties while still appearing dressed up! It’s as easy as slipping on a sweatshirt and yet the result is so different.
Dressing this sweater down isn’t a problem either! We just need a trusty pair of jeans or our favorite leggings and some sneakers! Because both shades of this sweater are neutrals, we can experiment with colors in both our other clothes and footwear without fear of causing a clash.
The Heather Cinder shade is a charcoal gray that pairs well with other deep and dark colors, especially. Natural is a creamy shade we like for pairing with pastels, or dark shades for a more monochrome look. Either shade works well for every season. Just don’t overheat in the summer!
Jewelry and accessory-wise, we can play around with this sweater! The looser round neckline leaves room for a cute choker. The ribbing would also fall nicely with a longer necklace, with the diagonal lines pointing right to the chain and/or pendant. We can try out cute studs or statement earrings, or both if we have multiple holes in our ears! Because both shades of this sweater are neutrals, we can also choose any color bag to carry around. No belt necessary, unless we need to keep our pants up, obviously!
This sweater is a total shopping success story for Us, and we’re putting it front and center in our closet to celebrate. This is a party starting . . . now! Should we buy some streamers and a cake too? Psh, like we’d ever ask permission to buy some cake. Hope everyone likes Funfetti!
