Gabourey Sidibe was born May 6, 1983 in Brooklyn, New York.
Her acting debut in 2009's Precious:Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire garnered multiple award nominations, including the Oscars and the Golden Globes.
In the film, Sidibe stars alongside Mo'Nique, Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz as an illiterate teenage mother growing up in a dysfunctional household.
Next up for the fresh face is a role in the upcoming TV show The Big C, where she'll star alongside Laura Linney, and Yelling to the Sky, which will be released in late 2010.
