Evangeline Lilly is every bit as tough as Kate Austen!

When the Lost actress and boyfriend Norman Kali welcomed son Kahekili in May, the 32-year-old first-time mom learned the hard way that drug-free childbirth can be long and painful.

"We decided to have the baby at home because we wanted it to be a natural birth, and it turns out that it was 30 hours of natural," the Real Steel star said on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday.

"Eight hours of pushing, that's the part that men don't understand," she quipped. "Women go, 'Oh dear, oh dear, God! Eight hours of pushing? And the mean are like, 'Okay, eight hours of pushing."

Lilly's midwife stepped in after about five hours of pushing with "a few suggestions."

"And I was like 'Really?'" she said. "'After five hours of pushing you have a few suggestions? You couldn't have told me five minutes in?'"

The actress also told Leno she wants "a brood" of children. "If I wasn't working right now, I would be trying [to have more children]," she said.

Way to go, Evangeline! It's an awesome accomplishment. Us Moms are tougher than people give us credit for.

Thumbs up Bethany! I agree. Evangeline may not be the first, but she has every right to feel proud of herself. Every woman who has ever had a baby, no matter where, naturally or not, has a right to talk about their birth experience and be proud.

@Courtney... she might not be the first, but the more who speak up and voice their choices maybe it will become more normal to the rest of the country!

I had a 5 hour labor with each of my kids and pushed them both out in less than 1/2 an hour because that's how I roll.
