this guy has a big ego, who does he think he is Michael Jordan?

Why would Lebron, or anyone want to stay on a team that treats him like that? You people seem to love him for playing for a certain team rather than just being a great basketball player. Let him pursue his basketball dreams without discrimination. Get a life and let him be. I saw this girl crying on the news over him leaving... pathetic.

Doesn't every athlete want to be in the #1 spot. Or is it the 0's who don't understand this and look to someone they don't even know to live out their fantasies. He is young and needs to branch out to push himself to the next level. He is a great athlete. And if he wasn't, all of you wouldn't react the way you are.

Looks like LeBron took the easy way out to me. Taking on the challenge of winning a title for his hometown in Cleveland would have been worth several championships with the new, stacked "Big Three" in Miami. He should have stayed the course in Cleveland, and his popularity would continue to soar, as well as his income!

cleveland knew he wasnt coming back. He don't owe them anything.

  • July 09, 2010 - 12:33pm Cindy

LunaC, I disagree. He should have acted professionally and placed a call to Cleveland immediately prior to his announcement. He would not have had to say where he was going until the official announcement, but he slapped him hometown group in the face by not extending that professional courtesy.

    well said lunaC

All this about Lebron being a coward and how Cleveland should not have found out the way they did........Please, really.....I don't think his decision would have been accepted if made by a phone call, letter, etc. Lebron was going to be talked about in a bad way by leaving Cleveland regardless! Hell why would he want to stay there? He wasn't getting anywhere.......sad to say but true.

This guy gave Cleveland 7 years and played his hardest. He has the right to move on and choose another place of employment. He fulfilled his contract and he's done! I think it was a great move and in the end that's all that matters. Hell, he doesn't owe Cleveland S*&! The 5 starters for the Heat is great! however, I don't know about that coach or what the bench can bring when needed. Celtics may just have a hard time winning the East now with these 5. Great move Lebron!

LBJ definitely had the right to go wherever he thought he could win, but he dragged this on, led on the franchise and prevented the Cavaliers from signing any of the other free agents, which shows a complete lack of respect for a franchise that let him be "king" of all of their decisions. I just hope the Cavs can make some trades and get some draft picks because they got "royally" scr3wed during free agency. @Gina -- you need a dose of ESPN to get your facts straight.

  • July 09, 2010 - 9:34am Lebron sucks

Lebron is a joke pure and simple. He is well aware the only way he's going to win a championship is by playing on a stakced team. He's not strong enough of a player to win on his own, and if he doesn't win something soon, his credibility will be lost. If he was as good as he makes himself out to be, he'd be a franchise player and anchor his team like Kobe. Instead he took the easy way out and will whine and point fingers when Miami loses claiming he wasn't given the ball enough. I for one will giggle with glee watching Miami self implode with 3 egomaniacs on their team :) Go Lakers.

    don't come back traitor

  • July 09, 2010 - 9:16am OHIO RESIDENT

If Lebron wanted to leave that is fine but I think he owed the Cleveland Organization an explanation. Pretty crappy to have them find out on national television. Where is your appreciation Lebron?

  • July 09, 2010 - 8:58am NatalieC

@Gina...know your facts girl, the Cavs DID try to get Wade and Bosh. He stabbed Cleveland's franchise, players and the entire city in the back with the way he handled this situation. He didn't even make a phone call and tell Dan Gilbert, he had to find out when the world did. LeBron is an a**, and highly disrespected his "hometown" by the way he went about this. Congratulations Miami, he'll be doing the same thing to you in a few years.

  • July 09, 2010 - 8:49am Kylie

Lana's comment wasn't so bad. I like the fact that she shared some of the positive things Lebron's doing.

  • July 09, 2010 - 8:39am rachel

but i dont hate on lebron, he did what he thought was best for him. was it a little egotistical to have the whole "decision" thing? yeah. but dont say that if you were famous and everyone was puffing you up and feeding your ego, that you wouldnt have done that too.

  • July 09, 2010 - 8:34am rachel

is it really a 30 million dollar pay cut if he is getting 90 million for 3 years instead of 128 million for 6? That is NOT a pay cut....
