Katie Lee Biegel

Katie Lee Biegel is an Emmy-nominated chef, cookbook author and television personality best known for cohosting Food Network’s The Kitchen and hosting Beach Bites With Katie Lee. Biegel grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, in a close-knit family where cooking was a major part of daily life. She attended Miami University in Ohio, where she studied journalism and food science. She graduated in 2003 with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English.

Biegel worked in restaurants and launched a gourmet food blog before making her television debut as the original host of Bravo’s Top Chef in 2006. After one season, she continued building her career as a food writer and author. She eventually joined Food Network’s The Kitchen as an original cohost in 2014, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host in 2017.

Her books include The Comfort Table (2008), The Comfort Table: Recipes for Everyday Occasions (2009), Endless Summer Cookbook (2015) and It’s Not Complicated: Simple Recipes for Every Day (2021). Her 2011 novel Groundswell was adapted into a Hallmark movie in 2023, in which she also served as an executive producer. She is also the cofounder of Kind of Wild Wines and hosts the podcast “All on the Table With Katie Lee Biegel.”

Biegel was previously married to Billy Joel, whom she wed in 2004. They separated in 2009 and later divorced. She married television producer Ryan Biegel in 2018 after meeting while filming Beach Bites. The couple welcomed daughter Iris in 2020.
