The grieving mother told Access Hollywood that the L.A. Coroner County's office gave her a "courtesy call" reporting its findings from her son's autopsy, which was completed on Thursday. The Coroner's office has not, however, released an official cause of death in the star's death, and is not expected to do so until toxicology tests are complete.

The autopsy, she says, found that her son had an enlarged heart, and that his lungs were filled with water. Corey Haim was pronounced dead at age 38 at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, Calif. early Wednesday morning. Judy lived with her son in his L.A. apartment, and saw him stumble, struggle to breathe and collapse before calling 911, according to the actor's agent.

The Coroner's Office has also confirmed that four prescription bottles, containing four different medications, were taken from the late star's room.

again, multiple things can cause his problems. yes, drugs can, but so can many other things. i see it everyday. i may not be a doctor, however i do specialize in the pulmonary system. my father in law died at age 27 of the same thing. guess what....no drug, alcohol, or smoking hx. so DOCTOR, please do not make assumptions about a pt. who you have not treated. could it have been drugs? sure. could it have been something else? absolutely. a man has died and it is incredibly sad that he made people millions and when he needed them they weren't there. no matter how he died, as anyone else, his family should be respected and he should not be judged.

it would be great if his so-called ex-friend feldman would man up and pay for his funeral? he's such a phony!!!

well, corey's mom can get together with brittany's mom and widower and they can continue being delusional together, perhaps even file a joint lawsuit against gollywood for driving their darlings to their deaths.

When Brittany Murphy wasn't feeling well she should have went to the hospital. Corey should have did the same! Maybe they would be alive today if that had of went? That is what the hospital is there for people...If you are not feeling like your normal self then go to the freaking hospital! So sad. RIP COREY!

I hope his mother does will not want to read all these comments. Some of you are brutal and cruel. If your son, brother, father, boyfriend died suddenly, would you want everyone talking badly about them, regardless of how they chose to lead their lives? Please, can't you all be a little kinder, if not for his sake, at least for his poor mom who watched her son die right in front of her. How tragic. At least now, he won't be facing any more demons. He will be resting in peace.

I does matter how he died , he was a drug addict. Period !

  • March 11, 2010 - 6:46pm Sher

It doesn't matter HOW he died. The fact is he has passed away and his mother is left to mourn the loss of her son. Show some respect when leaving comments. If you have nothing nice to say, don't bother saying anything at all.

    Tragic.

Addendum: at least in this case

  • March 11, 2010 - 6:27pm gina

Well, my medical opinion as a doctor is that drug abuse leads to cardiomyopathy, which is what is reported. Chronic amphetamine and/or cocaine abuse leads to that and is the most likely cause in a 38 year-old.

I can understand the families wanting it to not be the drugs. But it is. I think it's dangerous to try and blame it on anything else - it sends a dangerous message to the public.

i read these comments and i never say anything. this time i feel compelled. just because he has struggled with addiction before, doesnt mean that is how he died. just because he had prescriptions in his home, doesnt mean he overdosed on them. i suppose only drug addicts take prescription meds. by the way coroner stated yesterday, none of those meds were narcotics. oh and im a respiratory therapist. fluid overload builds quickly in the lungs and can be caused by many things. so before you judge a dead man or accuse his mother of lying, you should show respect and learn your facts.

When you abuse your body, eventually it says, okay, you win, we're dead. That being the truth, his mother has so much grief right now, a son is a son, no matter what way he dies, and she's sick, we should all pray for her.

  • March 11, 2010 - 5:09pm Sara

I agree with all of you. It is horribly sad when anyone dies especially unexpectedly. However it is usually not a good idea to try to sugar coat things. Get it out there and possibly save someone else. Rest In Peace Corey and may peace be with his family as well.

  • March 11, 2010 - 4:55pm Mia

Of course, his mother would say he died from anything other than drugs! So sad.

  • March 11, 2010 - 4:54pm Bea

My dad suffers from fluid in the lungs. everytime he has shortness of breath we take him to the er stat. he has never been a drug addict but he takes meds for his heart condition & the many other health issues he has, so i wouldn't be surprised if the meds cause this condition. rip corey.

  • March 11, 2010 - 4:52pm Tigs

I feel so sorry for his mom, battling cancer and losing a son, especially a son who was taking care of her. This lady sure needs a break. My heart goes out to her.

  • March 11, 2010 - 4:48pm Sara

Yes...Sorry to say but an enlarged heart and fluid on the lungs is indicitive of drug overdose. Lets call a spade a spade.
