Damsel in distress? Not so much. Greta Gerwig was more the belle of the ball at an after-party feting the film in NYC Monday night.
Though the indie darling, 28, "made her rounds," she focused most of her attention on one attendee in particular: The Squid and the Whale Director Noah Baumbach, 42.

"They arrived together and left together--they were by each other's side most of the night," a witness tells Us Weekly of the pair.
Adds a second eyewitness, "He kind of followed her as she said her hellos...They looked like they just wanted to hang out with each other!"

For her part, Gerwig recently insisted to Us that she's very much a single lady. "I think more about where I'm going than about what boy I like," the No Strings Attached actress admitted. "Horrible, but true!"
