In 2005, Kaling was hired as the only female writer on NBC's The Office; She later appeared on camera as the character Kelly Kapoor. A popular blogger and Twitter user, Kaling also penned a book of comedic essays, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), in 2011. The Dartmouth College graduate later developed, produced and starred in her own FOX comedy, The Mindy Project.
