Best known for her critically acclaimed performance in the breakout hit Slumdog Millionaire, Pinto was born in Mumbai, India on October 18, 1984.

After graduating from St. Xavier’s College with a bachelor’s degree in English literature, she began modeling and doing commercials. In 2007, she auditioned for the role of Latika in Slumdog Millionaire, her film debut.

After being at the top of the filmmakers’ short list, Pinto got a call from director Danny Boyle that she earned the part. For her efforts, Pinto has won a Screen Actors Guild Award and was nominated for a BAFTA.

Pinto is currently dating her Slumdog Millionaire costar, Dev Patel.
