Jesse Lee Soffer

Jesse Lee Soffer is an actor and director best known for playing Jay Halstead on Chicago P.D. and for his roles on As the World Turns and The Brady Bunch Movie. Soffer was born in Ossining, New York, and spent part of his childhood in Tarrytown before moving with his family to Newtown, Connecticut, at age 10. He attended The Gunnery boarding school, where he played soccer and was named to the all-star team during his senior year. He graduated in 2003 and later took classes at New York University.

Soffer began acting at age 6 in a Kix cereal commercial and made his film debut in Matinee in 1993. He played Bobby Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie (1995) and A Very Brady Sequel (1996) before taking roles on Two of a Kind and Guiding Light. In 2004, he joined As the World Turns as Will Munson, a role that earned him three consecutive Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series from 2006 to 2008.

Soffer joined Chicago P.D. in 2013 as Detective Jay Halstead, a role he reprised on Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. On the big screen, he’s appeared in Gracie (2007), The Awakening of Spring (2008), In Time (2011) and Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret (2013). In addition to acting, he has directed episodes of Chicago P.D..

Soffer dated his Chicago P.D. costar Sophia Bush from 2014 to 2016. He later dated Chicago Med actress Torrey DeVitto, with their relationship confirmed in 2018 before they split in 2019. He has also sparked dating rumors with Chicago P.D. costar Tracy Spiridakos, though neither has publicly confirmed a romantic relationship.
