Former View co-host Lisa Ling is opening up for the first time about suffering a miscarriage six months ago.

In a taped View appearance airing Friday, the 37-year-old journalist admits she felt like a "complete failure" after the sad event, according to the Associated Press.

Married to oncologist Paul Song, Ling says that she was pregnant for nine weeks when doctors discovered that her fetus had no heartbeat.

In the emotional chat, Ling explains she "felt more like a failure than I'd felt in a very long time." Making the experience all the more difficult is the prospect of another miscarriage in the future -- which has left her "devastated," she says.

But Ling was also inspired by the trauma to start a new website for other women who've dealt with shame over their miscarriages. Ling and a business partner have launched Secret Society of Women, where women can share their experiences anonymously.
