Who cares, says American Idol alum Clay Aiken.
When it comes to his sexuality, "People don't want to have that type of stuff pushed, people who are living in Omaha or in Charlotte or wherever," Aiken, 29, tells Access Hollywood.
"They don't want stuff like that pushed in their face," he adds. "I don't think that's necessary and that's also not what I'm here for. I mean, I went on Idol to be a singer, I went on Idol to be an entertainer and that's what my priority is."
When blogs began speculating on his sexuality — several men even came forth, claiming to have met Aiken in gay chat rooms — he admits it was "difficult initially.
"I think when you get into anything and you're not used to people scrutinizing this, that or the other... it bothers you," Aiken says.
"After awhile you kind of just say, 'Forget this ... This is not who I am, this is not about me, what I want to do is be a singer, want to be an entertainer, and forget all that stuff,'" he adds.
Still, he opens up a bit on his new album, On My Way Here, out May 6.
"Some of the songs on the album are personal, some of them are not personal, some of them are very universal and I like to keep that - allow people to interpret it that way," he says.

Has anyone read his book? If you had you would see that he has always been shy around girls and having been raised by his mother is a self proclaimed "momma's boy" and there is nothing wrong with that. I can also see why he has chosen to enter into the baby pact with his friend as he obviously adores children and at his age and in his profession has had little time to look for a mate, as he seems to be the kind that feels that marriage is forever. He is a uniquely talented young man with a gift for poking fun at himself. When I read all the detracting statements I wonder about those that feel they must try to destroy what another has built. I am a Clay fan and will continue to be so, even tho I'm probably older than his mother.

OMG this is funny all the comments. I read his book and he talks about being attracted to women. I think thats straight forward enuf in every meaning of the word "straight". LOL Admitedly though sometimes all the rumors almost make me believe that he could be but then my bro. is gay and i know gay men and clay strikes me as maybe a little mamas boy and prudish at times but not gay. Clay has a very beautiful voice and a beautiful personality. Whatever his sexuality should really not matter. Now that he is somebody people are going to judge him. On american idol it was never a issue. Leave the man alone and let him do what makes him happy. I will forever be a fan of his music and talent.

I think it is interesting that, after all these years, nothing bad can be said about Clay, no paparazzi frenzy surrounds him, he just does his performing and hurts no one and is friendly and cheerful and a darn amazing good sport after all he has endured. He's a good guy. Leave him alone. I like him. Whatever he sings, I'll listen to. I look forward to his appearances and performances. I'm not naive or whacky. I'm a normal person who appreciates his talent and loves his personality. Whoever he is, he's a breath of fresh celebrity air.

So, imagine how the Bible Belt feels.
There is a new pope in the Catholic church wanting to return to the crusade age and check beneath members sheets to make sure they are following all the procreation rules.

Clay has said several times in the past that he is not gay. Last year,
he said he will not talk about it again, as no matter how many times he
has said it, there are people who are going to believe what they want
anyway, and it was none of their business what he did in his private
life. That is so true and why is it important anyway?
I love what I have heard so far with this new CD. Something for everyone. I love his voice and everything he stands for in this world
we live in. He has a good heart and does try to make a difference.

Listen to the interview yourself. This is total spin and sensationalism. This is EXACTLY why Clay doesn't want to speak about this subject because the media can not be trusted and there is no way to say anything st all that they can't spin and twist.

Only one man has come forth who has actually identified himself, and he is a psychotic stalker who has just moved closer to Clay in order to get Clay to notice him. Said stalker has also retracted his story at one point. Why don't you people do some actual, you know, RESEARCH before you print something? People can SAY anything they want. Why don't you require some actual PROOF before you print something? I could say that I know for a fact that the writer of this article is a sex offender. I could even provide photoshops to back up my story. Would I have to prove it before the rest of the media had a shark-feeding frenzy over it? I doubt it.

He's a teacher first and he is trying to teach a lesson, at some considerable cost to his own comfort. The lesson is that there will never be equality and acceptance of all people when the media makes a determination of how they treat people based on perceived sexuality. It should not matter. Sexuality is not a joke, gay or straight. It is wrong to discriminate based on Race, gender or religion. The media needs to get that. He is a singer, not a porn star. Focus on the singing.
