Abby Elliot

Abby Elliott is an American actress and comedian best known for her four-season run on Saturday Night Live and her role as Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto on FX’s The Bear. Elliott is the child of actor Chris Elliott and talent coordinator Paula Niedert. She spent her childhood in Wilton, Connecticut, where she graduated from Immaculate High School in 2005. She went on to attend Marymount Manhattan College but left during her first semester to pursue comedy full time.

Elliott trained with The Groundlings and performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre before joining Saturday Night Live in 2008. At age 21, she became the youngest female cast member in the show’s history and the first second-generation SNL cast member, following in her father’s footsteps. During her tenure, she became known for her celebrity impressions, establishing herself as next generation talent in the comedy circuit.

After leaving Saturday Night Live in 2012, Elliott landed roles on shows including How I Met Your Mother, Odd Mom Out and Indebted. She also lent her voice to Disney’s Star vs. the Forces of Evil and appeared on the big screen in projects like No Strings Attached (2011), High Road (2011) and Cheaper by the Dozen (2022). She earned renewed acclaim after joining the cast of The Bear as Sugar Berzatto. As a part of the ensemble cast, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2024. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance on the show that same year.

Elliott dated Fred Armisen from 2010 to 2011 before marrying television writer and producer Bill Kennedy in 2016. They welcomed daughter Edith (born in 2020) and son William (born in 2023). In July 2026, Elliott filed for divorce after nearly 10 years of marriage.
