About

Eminem rose to fame with 1999’s The Slim Shady LP, produced by Dr. Dre, and found worldwide success with The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002). His discography includes Encore (2004), Relapse (2009), Revival (2017) and Music to Be Murdered By (2020) with hit singles “The Real Slim Shady,” “Lose Yourself,” “Mockingbird,” “Rap God” and “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna. Eminem is known for using his alter ego, Slim Shady, to convey darker subject matters in his music.

Eminem held a small role in the 2001 film The Wash and starred as himself in the 2002 musical drama 8 Mile. He made a cameo appearance in 2009’s Funny People and in 2014’s The Interview. He released his autobiography, The Way I Am, in 2008.

The rapper went on hiatus in 2005 while battling addiction to prescription drugs, including Vicodin, Ambien and Valium. Eminem was hospitalized in 2007 following a methadone overdose. He started his sobriety journey one year later, turning to Elton John as a mentor.

Eminem was previously married to Kimberly Anne Scott, whom he met in high school. They initially tied the knot in 1999 and split in 2001. They exchanged vows again in January 2006 but divorced three months later. The exes share daughter Hailie, who was born in 1995. Eminem later adopted his sister-in-law’s daughter, Alaina, as well as Scott’s child with then-boyfriend Eric Hartter. Eminem also helped raise his younger half-brother Nathan.
