BIO
In 1999, Ricky Martin shook his hips and made young girls swoon with his first English-language album, which included the hits "Livin' La Vida Loca" and "Shake Your Bon-Bon." Selling 60 million albums worldwide, Martin first achieved solo chart success in the U.S. after leaving the Latin American boy band Menudo in the early '90s.
Martin, who grew up in a Roman Catholic household, faced public scrutiny about his sexuality and publicly came out as gay in March 2010. Two years earlier, Martin welcomed twin boys, Matteo and Valentino, via surrogate.
The singer, who appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables, works with UNICEF and other children's charities as part of The Ricky Martin Foundation, which he founded in 2002.
