On The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday, Halle Berry recounts the horror she recently experienced when she lost daughter Nahla, 3, in a department store.

"Talk about sweating," she says. "And you just freak out for about 30 seconds. I came undone. I think my head projected off my body."

Berry, 44, says she remembers standing, holding the girl's hand.

"And then all of a sudden, I looked down at a price tag or something, and she toddled off for what seemed like two seconds," she says. "The next thing I know, I looked back around and it was like, Whosh! Gone! And I said, 'Nahla? Nahla? Nahla?' Gone," she continues. "My heart just started ... I'm like, Close the store! Shut the door! My daughter's gone!'"

Turns out, Berry says, "She was right next to me -- in a rounder of clothes where the pants were hanging. Right there. And after I became a lunatic and totally embarrassed myself, she stuck her head out and was like, 'Hi.'"

This so happened to me and my son at about 2 or 3! Same thing - he was under the clothes rack. I panicked as well. They called a Code Adam and locked all doors. I ran through that store franickly. Then I hear, will the lady with the lost boy please come to customer service. I ran up there. I was crying like crazy... then when I seen him, I wanted to kill him instantly! Makes me tear up reliving this through this story!

I walked away from my mom in a store when I was that age. Life is just so much more interesting if there's nobody holding your hand!

My mother said she went though that with me several times. I was always wondering away to look elsewhere, just a curious child.

That happened to me at a grocery store. They found my daughter in the produce section naming all the fruits and veggies!

LOL. I did that to my mom when I was little. She was freaking out looking for me, and I was quietly hiding in a rack of clothes.

I lost my kid in Chuckie Cheese. She just seemed to blend in with all the other kids. I don't know why I freaked out because they stamp your hand so that you can't leave with a kid thats not your own. I had our group looking for her also and they couldn't find her either. Then she just walked up out of no where. Surreal.

That SAME thing happened to my mom and I with my little sister when she was a little over a year. She could walk but not talk yet. We FREAKED out for the 3 minutes we couldn't find her. Seriously, a split second is all it takes. After that I decided any future children of mine are being leashed and tethered... :-)

Happens to the best of us...actually, I don't have kids, but still. She's only human. The ones hating on her either don't have kids or just simply have something against Halle personally. For anyone who has kids to act like they have NEVER let go of their childs hand for 10 seconds at the grocery store or that they know EXACTLY where their child is every second in their own home is ludicrous.

@ Brenda - hatin on Halle will not make you pretty. This type of incident happens to ALL good mothers so take your hatred somewhere else!

Isnt that how John Walsh's son died? His wife took their son to the mall and she lost where he was and someone ended up taking the child and killing him

Omg that happened to me with my sister's identical twin girls when they were like 2. I had both of them in the store, they were dressed alike, and I kept checking on them out of the corner of my eyes when I realized I was just looking at one. I turned around, only one?!! Where's your sister? I not know. What??? I picked up the one twin and started screaming for the other. Then I was like ok, lock the doors, code Adam, whatever, my baby's been kidnapped. It was like she disappeared into thin air. In the meantime, my sister came in from another store and I was like I lost the kid. So she starts freaking out. What do you mean you lost my kid? I don't know, I suck, okay. Help me look. Finally, a store employee found her. She was under a long display with only like 10 inches in height and he dragged her out by her foot, laughing and smiling. She crawled under there to get a ball she saw. Look I got ball mama. Look baby I got gray hair and wrinkles and I am only 25. Thanks. Worst/best day of my life.

too busy trying to pick up cute white guys... lol The guys she 'steals' don't want you anyway. So no need to worry bigot. Or did you forget Halle's mother is white? Doesn't that give her at least half a right to be with who she's attracted to? Wow. try to move past Reconstruction it's only been 50+ years.
