Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie was born on June 4, 1975, to actress Marcheline Bertrand and actor Jon Voight. After getting her start in film alongside her father in Lookin’ to Get Out in 1982, Jolie went on to win an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Golden Globes Awards for her roles in 1997’s George Wallace, 1998’s Gia and 1999’s Girl, Interrupted. She recently starred as the title character in 2014 film Maleficent.
Following marriages and divorces with actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie married actor Brad Pitt in 2014 after falling for him while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004 and becoming engaged in 2012. The couple has six children, three of whom were adopted internationally. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016.
Jolie is noted for her humanitarian efforts, advocating for refugees, women’s rights, education and conservation, among other issues.
