Mike Sorrentino and Lauren Sorrentino: A Timeline of Their Relationship

Mike and Lauren Sorrentino have survived many “Situations” during their relationship and marriage — from his prison sentence for tax evasion to taking on reality TV and parenthood together. And through it all, they’ve remained rock solid. The college sweethearts — who wed in November 2018 — recalled their first date during a May 2021 edition of Us Weekly’s “Not So Newly Married Game.” “I just did movies and dinner,” Lauren explained. “We are, like, so old that like we dated back when you would go to Blockbuster.” The MTV personality agreed, noting that Blockbuster — an apparent fixture of their early 2000s dating life — was “the best.” He continued, “That’s what I’m saying — DVD and chill. And obviously out to dinner. We definitely went to Italian first, pasta and pizza, and then back to DVD and [chill].” [jwplayer eOxD8NhI-l3ahXupL] According to Lauren, it was Mike that said “I love you” first way back when. “Oh, my God. It was so many years ago,” she told Us. “I just know his personality and I know my personality, especially back then — I was very guarded. So even if I had feelings, I never shared that. Like, I’d wait until it was safe, like smooth sailing.” The New York native confirmed his wife’s story. “I’m a cancer, so we put our feelings out there pretty quickly. I definitely said it,” he explained. “It was during college. We were college sweethearts. Maybe actually 17 years ago when we first met.” After dating for a while, the couple split for the entire original run of Jersey Shore. Nevertheless, everything worked out the way it was meant to — the duo have been inseparable since reconnecting in 2013. “I definitely didn’t follow some of the crazy stuff going on in Jersey Shore. I didn’t like a lot of the things he did, but we weren’t together!” Lauren told Us in May 2015. “Timing is everything — we circled back to each other and we kind of picked back up where we left off.” In the years since, the pair have certainly made up for lost time — and even starred alongside each other on a different show: Jersey Show: Family Vacation. 2009 to 2012

The Sorrentinos, seen in a throwback pic here, dated in college but took a “break” for “however long Jersey Shore was,” as Lauren exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2018. The show ran from 2009 to 2012.

2013

“Timing is everything — we circled back to each other about two years ago and we kind of picked back up where we left off,” Lauren told Us in May 2015.

April 2018

The couple exclusively revealed their engagement to Us in April 2018, after Mike popped the question while Jersey Shore: Family Vacation cameras rolled. “I approached the executive producers and I let them know, ‘Listen I really want to do this. This show is really special to me. This is the show that introduced me to the world,’” he told Us. “It was really special for me to do this, to get down on one knee on Jersey Shore.”

August 2018

The Dancing With the Stars alum opened up about his and Lauren’s wedding plans in August 2018, telling Us, “I don’t really know too much about it, but I know ‘happy wife is a happy life.’ So whatever she wants, we’re gonna try to get it.”

October 2018

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation fans watched the duo hit an awkward patch in an October 2018 episode when Mike called his fiancée from Las Vegas to say that his pals hosted naked women in their hotel room. Lauren wasn’t happy. “That’s disgusting,” she told him over the phone. “I’m looking at flowers for our wedding and you’re telling me it was THOTCHELLA of naked girls in the hotel room? … It’s time to come home and, like, plan the wedding. We’ll talk about that when you get home. It’s ridiculous.”

October 2018

Mike pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018 and was sentenced to eight months in prison in October 2018. He opened up about his legal drama that August, telling Us, “You know, my current situation is not my final destination.”

November 2018

The lovebirds tied the knot at The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, on November 1, 2018, with Mike’s Jersey Shore costars in attendance. “We are so incredibly excited to begin our journey as husband and wife!” the newlyweds gushed in an exclusive statement to Us. “We are each other’s best friend and together we can handle anything. Thank you to all our family, friends and fans who have supported us every step of the way. Gym, Tan, Laurens is the new GTL! With Love, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Sorrentino.”

November 2018

In a November 2018 interview with Us, the former Marriage Boot Camp star revealed that he and Lauren were more preoccupied with starting a family than with his impending prison sentence. “We don’t necessarily have a plan for [when I go away]. I don’t know if you can actually plan for such a thing,” he explained. “But it’s gonna be a blip [on] the radar and, you know, we’re happy to start a family now.”

April 2019

Mike reported to the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in upstate New York in January 2019, and Lauren told Us in April that she and her husband were “stronger than ever,” despite him being behind bars. “We talk every day and we see each other at least once a week,” she added.

August 2019

During a game of “Most Likely To” with Us Weekly, Jersey Shore costar Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio speculated that the Sorrentinos were “already trying” to have a baby, even with Mike in prison. “He’s like, ‘Lauren, catch,’” DelVecchio quipped. “They smuggled out his sperm and gave it to Lauren.”

September 2019

Mike was released from prison in September 2019, and he and Lauren were spotted together at a New Jersey gas station just hours later.

September 2019

On the same day as Mike’s release from prison, he and Lauren posed for a family photo at home with the couple’s dog, Mosley. “Living my best life with my beautiful wife,” the reality star wrote on Instagram.

November 2019

The couple opened up about their “heart-wrenching” miscarriage two months after the Jersey Shore star’s prison release. “The night he came home [from prison] we actually conceived,” Lauren revealed during a November Strahan, Sara & Keke appearance. “And then at about six and half, seven weeks, I miscarried. … When I found out we were pregnant, I felt like this is why we went through all these challenges for years and that this was our time and it was our blessing. … It was hard. It was really difficult.”

November 2020

One year after revealing her heartbreaking pregnancy loss, Lauren announced via Instagram that she's expecting the pair's first child. "Our biggest blessing is on its way 🤰🏼🙏🏼🎁," she wrote alongside three photos with husband Mike.

December 2020

The Jersey Shore stars announced in December 2020 that they're having a baby boy! "Gym Tan We’re having a Baby Boy," he wrote via Instagram at the time.

January 2021

The couple opened up about potentially expanding their family in an exclusive interview with Us.

“It’s so funny. She’s like, ‘Honey, right after we have this first one, we’re going to have another one,'” Mike said. “I was like, ‘Honey, let’s calm down. One step at a time.’ But I think she’s onto something. We definitely would like around three children, I think.”

January 2022

The Jersey Shore star exclusively revealed to Us Weekly that he and Lauren were thinking about giving their son a sibling. "I don’t know about baby No. 3, but definitely baby No. 2 [is in the cards] to have a brother or sister for Romeo, for sure," he said at the time.

Lauren finally celebrated her first official Mother's Day just two weeks shy of Romeo's first birthday. "Happy Mother's Day to this first time Mommy ❤️," Mike wrote via Instagram to commemorate the occasion.

The twosome welcomed daughter Mia Bella Elizabeth on January 24. “We got an amazing Situation🥺!! We are beyond overjoyed to welcome our little girl into this world to join our growing family of 4,” Mike gushed via Instagram one day later.
