Us Weekly named Jennifer Lopez Style Icon of the Decade in spring 2010 -- but her husband Marc Anthony tried to call the shots over the fashion diva's clothes during a cover photo shoot for the magazine earlier that year.

Anthony, now 42, objected to a pic that he found "too sexy and unbecoming for a 40-year-old mother of two," one insider tells Us.

Ever since the couple tied the knot seven years ago, the Latin crooner strove to curtail his wife's famous style choices.

"He would make her feel terrible about herself if she wanted to wear something sexy," says another source. "He likes her to dress in a demure, 'wife' style. He hated the fact that she was a sex symbol."

"Marc has always been a very dominating husband," another insider says of the couple, who announced the end of their marriage last Friday. "He wants to control everything Jennifer does."

1st of all Jennifer has known Marc 4 yrs., don't tell me she didn't know or saw tendencies of how he was from the git-go. I agree w/Marc, she is sexy & an icon, but please use some contraint sometimes. It's like she tries to go over the top ALWAYS. It get boring, it's ALWAYS very provacative, & always the same ole same ole. Wouldn't it be an attention getter to dress a little modest for once. Beonce is the same, and it's so provacative it get's old, w/her boobs ALWAYS hanging out.

That was a no brainer when we saw less of her in the Spotlight. That's why when people get in a Committment the Dynamics change all the sudden there's boundries. It's only a matter of time you get bored with that whole happily ever after concept.

Not one of you saw anything aside from what they (Jenn & Marc & The Tabloids) wanted you to see...we dont truly know what either one of them were like nor do we know what her exes were like so really all of you are speculating and just assuming details of relationships you honestly know nothing about...I wish them all the best because they are both human beings making lots of money for entertaining us...

Jho only became famous because of Selena's death. She would have been a struggling dancer other wise. Karma came her way for breaking up a marriage.

I agree with Rochelle's comment below. What you guys think of Jho hooking up with Charlie Sheen? I think they are a perfect match!

Beyonce should have been choosed "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN OF THE WORLD" if you look at the REAL big picture with FAMILY, MARRIAGE, and FAME..........someone needs to make the second CORRECT vote. What other woman can be compared to her. what happen in the vote box...We like Marc Anthony and is too well good of a person.

Isabel Paxton: I hope your comment does not have anything to do with skin color... How is Ben Affleck better than p diddy... they both womanizers and unstable.... You are saying no 'decent man' should be the jlo.... what is your definition of a decent man? Are you the same person that's calling JLo a "brownie"...

I wish Marc Anthony the best. He has to face the fact that his ex wife is a sex symbol.

pls now they're trying to make Marc look bad. If he was such a jerk then how come none of this info came out till now? How about all the failed marriages J. Lo had and how she cheated and treated her good ex husband Chris Judd like crap. karma!

Kata: there's a huge difference between "voicing an opinion" and telling your wife what she should and shouldn't wear. Marc did the latter, and that's controlling.

To Susan Livingston Harris @ 5:45: "Spiteful"? Do you even know what that word means? Why would she want to spite William and Kate?

  • July 20, 2011 - 10:40pm Vicki Jean Cole

Not surprised to hear that Marc was a controlling husband. You could see signs of that all during the relationship. I suspect that was a BIG contributor to the failure of the marriage.

I'm not a big fan of Jennifer, neither of Marc... but, the way a woman dress doesn't define how kind of mother she is. I know plenty of women who dress like a lady and are terrible mothers, and viceversa. If a guy try to dominate YOUR life, is good to get rid of him. That's NOT healthy. No for you, no for your kids. PERIOD!

I'm totally with Marc here. J-Lo has to understand that no matter how big a star she is, she is a MOTHER and a wife. EVeryone is so caught up in this whole Fame thing they don't even realize who they're turning out to be. I really don't like her anymore. She is way better off being a single woman doing whatever she wants. Poor Marc.He is such a sweet guy.

  • July 20, 2011 - 4:25am Kylie Dean

Please, no one tells J-lo what to do. Her reputation follows her.

  • July 20, 2011 - 3:50am Kata Kimbe

I don't know why it is such a bad thing that a husband voices his opinion on a wife who is known to bare more than she should. I am no prude... but J-Lo likes to flaunt it. Maybe my bias of not liking her is clouding my judgment. But I have never been a fan of J-Lo's style of clothes... it's all about getting attention. I think these people are selfish for splitting with these poor young kids. Nobody works on their marriage anymore. So much for sanctity of it all.

  • July 20, 2011 - 12:48am May Chu Harding

Marc Anthony's right. JLo wore half a dress when meeting Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge!

  • July 19, 2011 - 11:42pm Lilian Vasquez

Wow! I though that this marriage would've last much less. I think that Jlo is a selfish and ambitious woman who can step up the ladder no matter what it takes. Deyanara cried so many times on tv and with dignity assumed the divorce from the man who was stolen by Jlo. I feel sorry for the kids but live should give back what Jennifer deserves, she stole the happiness of those kids (babies by then) to grow up with the father and she will have to have a taste of her own medicine. The PR team sold the married a true love story, the true soulmates who found each other and now they try to do the same as the victim of the whole mess. Fans should stop idealizing this icon of disgrace.
