Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes was born in August 1998 and rose to fame after being discovered on the video-sharing app Vine in 2013. The Canadian crooner signed with Island Records A&R the following year.

He released his self-titled debut EP in 2014 before dropping his first studio album, Handwritten, in 2015. The record debuted at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200, making Mendes one of five artists ever to debut at No. 1 before the age of 18.

The “Stitches” singer released his second studio album, Illuminate, in 2016, which he followed up with 2018’s Shawn Mendes. His fourth studio record, Wonder (2020), made the musician the youngest male singer to ever top the Billboard 200 with four studio albums.

The “In My Blood” crooner, who is also a model, has been nominated for multiple Grammys and was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2018.

After shutting down rumors about his sexuality, Mendes began dating longtime friend Camila Cabello in July 2019. The couple proceeded to quarantine together amid the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020 and bought a dog together in November of that year.

The pair announced their split in November 2021 with a joint statement, assuring fans they “will continue to be best friends.”
