He may be known by most as Jennifer Lopez's one-time husband, but Marc Anthony has long enjoyed his own success in the entertainment industry.

Anthony (real name: Marco Antonio Muniz) was born in 1968 in New York City to Puerto Rican parents. At the age of 12, Anthony was hired to do back-up vocals write songs for bands, including Menudo. His first album, Rebel, debuted in 1988 as part of the Latin Freestyle genre.

By the late 90s, Anthony had switched to making salsa music and had released two more albums. His 1997 album, Contra la Corriente, became the first salsa album to land on the Billboard 200 charts and also garnered a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden. But it wasn’t until he released his self-titled English album in 1999 that he gained crossover popularity with the Top 5 hit, "I Need to Know."

Anthony made headlines in 2004 when he married J. Lo in a private wedding less than a week after his divorce from former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres was finalized. The couple invited friends to an afternoon party, omitting that they would be holding a wedding ceremony instead.

In February 2008, Anthony and Lopez welcomed twins Emme and Maximillian to the world. Three years later, in July 2011, Anthony and Lopez split.
