Malin Akerman

Actress Malin Akerman was born in Stockholm, Sweden on May 12, 1978, but was raised in Toronto, Canada. As a young child, Akerman modeled and appeared in TV commercials by the age of 5. In high school, she balanced classes with modeling during the summers in Europe. At 17, she won the Ford Supermodel of Canada Search, which eventually led to a spot on a Canadian sci-fi series.

Akerman's big break came when she landed a spot on the HBO series The Comeback. The show failed to find an audience, but Akerman made a comeback herself when she starred opposite Ben Stiller in the summer comedy The Heartbreak Kid.

In a change from comedic roles, Akerman showed diversity in the comic book adaptation Watchmen. She returned to comedy, however, with roles in Couples Retreat and The Proposal.

Akerman is married to musician Roberto Zincone, whom she met while doing a brief stint as a singer for his band. They have been married since June 2007. The couple announced Akerman's pregnancy in August 2012.
