While Pippa Middleton raids her sister's closet for designer duds, Kate appears to be taking style cues from her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.
When the Duchess of Cambridge, 29, stepped out in an elegant black velvet Alexander McQueen gown at the Sun Military Awards in London on Saturday, royal fans were instantly reminded of a similar dress Diana wore to the White House in November 1985, where she danced with John Travolta. The stunning midnight blue Victor Edelstein design was later auctioned off for almost $80,000. See more pics of Kate's stunning dress from PopSugar.
Back in July, Kate was spotted wearing a pair of Diana's sapphire and diamond earrings (in addition to her engagement ring, also made of sapphire and diamonds), which she received as a gift from Prince William.
Ever the fashionista, Kate opted to give the earrings a modern twist by having the studs remodeled into drop earrings. (Believed to be her most prized set of jewels, Diana wore them quite frequently before her death in 1997.)
