Katharine McPhee
BIO
Katharine McPhee was the American Idol runner-up on the show's successful fifth season, which wrapped in 2006. McPhee was born in 1984 and raised in Sherman Oaks, Calif. She started singing when she was just two years old and studied musical theater at the Boston Conservatory, which she ended up leaving for Hollywood.
After a few minor TV roles, McPhee didn't rise to stardom until her appearance on Idol. After losing out to Taylor Hicks, she released a self-titled debut album in January 2007, which sold more than 115,000 copies in its first week, earning a number two spot on the Billboard 200 charts.
In February 2008, she married longtime actor beau Nick Cokas.
