Talk about a fashion emergency.
Currently touring in support of new album A Woman Falling Out of Love, Aretha Franklin recently paid a visit to an Indianapolis hospital, her rep tells Us Weekly. And though the Queen of Soul, 69, overcame a life-threatening illness earlier this year, the medical issue this time was minor -- but still awfully painful!

While at her Dallas hotel, the Grammy winner accidentally stumbled over a pile of shoes, and her left foot landed atop the spike heel of her Jimmy Choo. Her left index toe "hurt like heck for a minute but seemed to subside," Franklin said. Several days later, Franklin got an x-ray at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis -- revealing a fractured left index toe.

"I'm so grateful it wasn't my right piano peddle foot, I have a gig on July 27th at the Jones Beach Theatre in New York!" joked Franklin, whose toe and foot were wrapped after the X-ray.

One complaint: "How am I supposed to match my new Marc Jacobs gown with this wooden blue hospital shoe?"

1Am I the only one who finds this kind of funny? I mean, I'm sorry to Aretha for being in pain, but whenever I see some woman teetering around in silly high heels, I secretly wish she would fall down. I know it's mean, but come on, if a rapist is coming after you, how you gonna get away in those things? Sensible people wear sensible shoes.
