Golden girl: Former model Stewart gravitates toward well-made clothes and casual elegance. Then there’s the side of her that goes for the gold. Favorite item in her wardrobe? A gold Lanvin trench coat. “It looks great over jeans, a bathing suit or an evening gown. I bought it three years ago and it was my first piece of Lanvin.”

Martha Stewart living higher: The lifestyle expert, talk show host and business magnate, 68, says that her style has evolved over the years and is now “more sophisticated, more expensive, and I definitely wear higher-heeled shoes.” And that lift comes from? Ralph Lauren and Thomas Maier are her go-to designers.

Whatever works: “The great thing about style in New York is that you can be dressed up or down and either way, you can get away with it. Jeans at night or a long gown to dinner. It all goes.”
