Born in April 1980, Channing Tatum is best known for his role as Tyler Gage in 2006’s Step Up, where he met his costar and now-wife, Jenna Dewan.
Tatum got his start as a backup dancer in Ricky Martin’s music video for “She Bangs” after a casting agent spotted him performing under the pseudonym “Chan Crawford” in a Chippendales-style revue called Male Encounter in 1999. He then began modeling for Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.
He first hit the big screen with 2005’s Coach Carter. His first leading role came from 2006’s She’s The Man, where he starred alongside Amanda Bynes. But it wasn’t until Step Up that Tatum danced his way to stardom. In 2009 alone, he was in Fighting, Public Enemies and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
Tatum and Dewan tied the knot in July 2009 in Malibu. The couple spent their honeymoon in Bali, where they got matching tattoos that say “side by side.”
